Survival Until Revolution: Mandatory Reporting, Anti-Blackness and Education

This zine was created by Movement for Family Power in collaboration with Erica Meiners, Charity Hope Tolliver, Shawn Koyano, Shannon Perez Darby, Jasmine Wali, Van Jordan, Ayla Gelsinger, Erin Miles Cloud, and Alia Russel.

“Survival Until Revolution” is a zine borne out of conversations between a collection of activists fighting to abolish the family regulation system. As abolitionists, we must tighten our analysis around the interconnected ways multiple systems contribute to the policing of children, and ensure that any demand to divest from cops, includes a demand to divest from the family regulation system. We must divest from police and invest in what really makes our communities safer, and we must turn an equally critical eye to the allegedly “helping” and “caring” professions that are infected by the family policing system’s requirement of mandated reporting.
